Margaritas

A classic margarita is a perfect mix of sweet, sour, and just a little bit salty, making it an ideal pairing for your Cinco De Mayo festivities. Originating out of Acapulco, the standard recipe for a margarita is as follows:

  • 2 ounces blanco or reposado tequila
  • 1/2 ounce orange liqueur (Cointreau and Triple Sec are two popular options)
  • 1-ounce lime juice, freshly squeezed
  • 1/2 ounce agave syrup
  • Garnish: lime wheel
  • Garnish: Salted rim

For a refreshing twist and extra flavour, consider using flavoured syrup, including a few slices of jalapeño for some additional kick, or swapping out lime juice for pineapple, strawberry, or any other fruit juice of your liking!

Paloma

Palomas are a national favourite in Mexico, and for good reason. This tart and refreshing beverage combines tequila or reposado with lime juice and grapefruit soda for a tasty treat that’s perfect for springtime weather. Palomas are made with:

  • 2 ounces tequila or reposado
  • 1/2 ounce lime juice, freshly squeezed
  • Grapefruit soda, chilled, to top
  • Garnish: lime wheel
  • Garnish: salt rim (optional)

Oaxaca Old Fashioned

Old fashions are a classy addition to any occasion, and this delightful twist adds a new dimension to a standard favourite. Instead of bourbon or whiskey, an Oaxaca uses smokey mezcal and reposado to create a smooth finish that warms the tastebuds. The recipe for an Oaxaca Old Fashion is:

  • 1 1/2 ounces reposado tequila
  • 1/2 ounce mezcal
  • 1 bar spoon agave nectar
  • 2 dashes of Angostura bitters
  • Garnish: flamed orange peel

The Mexican bulldog gives you a refreshing 2 drinks in one, with lots of flavours to enjoy! Frosty and perfect for warm days, a bulldog is a combination of a margarita and a Corona beer, adding a little extra fizz to the mix!
